Job summary

Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc. is seeking experienced Laborers to join our team in Perkasie, PA. The role involves carrying out construction tasks in a utility capacity and transitioning between tasks as needed.

Responsibilities include performing work safely per OSHA and H&K policies, handling tools, measuring and laying out grades, and assisting with paving and pipe duties. Training programs and company-paid health benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• One month of related experience and/or training.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Mathematical skills including rate, ratio, and percent; able to read graphs.
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Problem solving; PPE fit testing.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (lifting up to 50 pounds).

Responsibilities

• Performs all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Acquires tools needed for daily operations.
• Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.
• Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.
• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement.
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications.
• Mixes concrete; finishes freshly poured cement or concrete.
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Paving duties: assists with markings, grades with paving lute, operates vibratory plate, shovels asphalt, directs traffic.
• Pipe duties: sets up daily functions, operates equipment, prepares pipes, checks grades, assists with pipe connections.
• Other duties as assigned.

Blooming Glen Contractors, a partner with the H&K Group, Inc., located in Blooming Glen, PA, is currently seeking experienced and motivated Laborers to become a part of our team. Usually performing their duties in a utility capacity, the Laborer position entails working on construction projects, often transferring from one task to another whenever the situation requires.

Responsibilities

• Performs all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Acquires tools needed for daily operations

• Levels earth to fine grade specifications.
• Mixes concrete.
• Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete.
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Paving Duties:
  • Assists with pre-run markings
  • Uses a paving lute to fine grade before roller man compacts
  • Operates vibratory plate as needed
  • Shovels asphalt as required
  • Direct traffic around work area as required
• Pipe Duties:
  • Gets tools needed for daily operations
  • Gets job set up for daily function such as setting up a pipe laser
  • Operates a Wacker and jumping jack to perform backfilling duties
  • Uses cut saws to make pipe proper length
  • Preps pipe for connection before pipe gets lowered
  • Shoots grades and checks grades using laser or conventional methods
  • Performs connection of pipe work
  • Responsible for checking for proper pipe slope
  • Preps structures for installation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• One month of related experience and/or training
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Mathematical skills including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Problem solving
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
