Job Summary

Join our team to play a vital role in maintaining the safety and integrity of Laurens County’s infrastructure. You will perform essential manual and semi-skilled tasks that keep our roads, rights‑of‑way, and county facilities in top condition for the community. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys physical, outdoor work and wants to contribute to the public’s good.

Top Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform manual and semi-skilled tasks to maintain county roads and rights‑of‑way, including removing debris, trash, and dead animals, and placing signs for maintenance operations.
  • Equipment Operation & Care: Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools—including mowers, weed eaters, and pressure washers—while performing routine preventative maintenance and refueling to ensure all equipment remains operable.
  • Operational Support: Assist with loading and unloading materials for department projects and remain available for possible on‑call emergency work during evenings, nights, or weekends.
Requirements
  • Experience: Equivalent knowledge or experience in landscaping, general maintenance, or general construction.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Skill Highlight: Ability to perform physical labor in various conditions outdoors, operate small engines and various hand/power tools, and strong customer service skills.
  • License/Certifications: Valid SC Driver's License.

A CDL license is not required for this role, but is highly encouraged for those seeking future promotions.
