Job summary

Layton Construction seeks entry-level construction workers in Kansas City to join a team focused on safety, quality, and project support. This position offers opportunity for growth, mentoring, and involvement in community activities, reflecting Layton's commitment to development and teamwork.

Candidates will work on-site with responsibilities spanning material handling, site clean-up, and assisting craft workers while upholding Layton's standards of integrity and safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and emails.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Commitment to and meeting of scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Provide support to other craft workers on project site of structural construction, heavy concrete construction, demolition, and framing.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas (sweep debris, gather and discard trash, scrap iron and wood, remove snow and ice).
• Identify hazards associated with task assignments and ask questions when clarification is needed.
• Load/unload materials as needed.
• Have minimum tools associated with trade.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety.

Summary
