Job summary

Conlon Construction Co. is seeking a Laborer to perform a variety of physical tasks on a jobsite, including demolition, material handling, concrete work, insulation, and installation on commercial and residential projects.

The role requires basic carpentry knowledge and teamwork with Laborers, Carpenters, Assistant Superintendents, and Superintendents to ensure high-quality work while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• A Valid Driver License is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demolition: demo and safely remove building materials to create a new work area and maintain a clean area to eliminate hazards.
• Construction: assist wall construction, framing, roofing and related tasks; help with concrete, forming/rebar, and finishing; assemble/disassemble scaffolding and ladders; caulk, insulate, and paint surfaces.
• Safety & Compliance: keep work area safe and compliant with all safety regulations; follow safety protocols and company policies; participate in emergency actions.

Job Summary:

The Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of physical tasks on a jobsite. These tasks may include demolition, jobsite cleanup, material handling, concrete, insulation, installation, construction, and repair work. The role involves working on various construction projects, including commercial and residential buildings, and requires understanding of basic carpentry techniques, tools, and materials. The Laborer will work closely with other Laborers, Carpenters, Assistant Superintendents, and Superintendents to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality while following all safety guidelines. The duties in this job description are not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Demolition

• Effectively demo and safely remove building materials to create a new work area.
• Assist with selective demo as needed to avoid non-needed build backs.
• Maintain a clean work area to eliminate safety hazards.
• Eliminate fall hazards as created such as: floor hole capping and installation of guardrails.

Construction

• Maintain general conditions on the jobsite, which may include perimeter fence maintenance, digging trenches, erecting scaffolding, jobsite cleanup, and removal of scrap and other waste material, washout area, and snow and ice removal.
• Assist wall construction, partitions, structural framing, and roof structure from wood and steel materials.
• Assist with concrete, forming/rebar, placing, finishing, wall rubbing, repairing both flat and vertical work.
• Assist with the assemble and disassemble scaffolding, ladders, bracing and shoring systems.
• Caulk, grind, waterproof, grout gaps, and insulate floors and walls.
• Assist with the assembly and installation of hardware.
• Paint walls, buildings and other structural surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
• Operate hand and power driver tools including but not limited to impact drivers, drills, grinders, and various saws.
• Assist carpenters with materials and tools.

Safety & Compliance

• Keep the work area clean and in safe condition while complying with all Conlon, Client, State, and Federal safety regulations.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies on the job site.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
• Actively participate in any emergency action.

• A Valid Driver License is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Mobility: This Position requires ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel and climb for extended periods of time and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to repetitively lift and/or move up to 30 lbs., push pull up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
• Working Conditions: This position requires employees to work indoors and outdoors in inclement weather, including wet surfaces and high variation in temperatures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, powertools, and heights. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is highly variable.
