Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a shop helper to assist in a custom metal fabrication shop. You will prepare the shop for upcoming projects, assist with fabrication tasks, unload and load material, and keep work areas clean and safe.

Responsibilities include collaborating with supervisors and fabricators, operating shop equipment, following safety rules, and supporting ongoing projects. This role requires reliability, physical endurance, and the ability to work extended hours as

• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Must be able to utilize basic math and read a tape measure.
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively
• Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
• 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
• Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements

• Safely and efficiently operates all fabrication shop equipment such as mechanical shears, press brakes, rollers, ironworkers, drill presses, saws, and forklifts.
• Takes direction and effectively communicates with supervisors based on project needs.
• Thinks creatively and applies results to safely and efficiently complete tasks.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
• Maintains work area in clean and tidy manner.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Position Description
