Job summary

Eurofins USA Environment Testing is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to support routine lab operations, sample preparation, and instrument maintenance in accordance with QA programs. This entry-level role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and timely work in a fast-paced environment.

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 12:00pm to 8:30pm, with a pay rate of $17.50 per hour plus a 5% shift differential. Benefits are included for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• High school Chemistry coursework preferred.
• Basic laboratory experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle samples in coolers.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Retrieving samples from Sample Control for analysis.
• Performing sample preparation including aliquoting, spike and trace, and preparing reagents.
• Handling bottle samples and preparing concentrations.
• Learning the LIMS and Mercury Analysis processes.
• Maintaining accurate laboratory paperwork and logs.
• Washing glassware and stocking supplies.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
• Assisting other laboratory areas as needed.

The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Retrieving samples from Sample Control for analysis.

• Performing sample preparation which may include, but is not limited to, a combination of the following methods:

• Aliquot samples

• Spike and trace samples

• Prepare reagents

• Bottle samples

• Prepare concentrations

• Separation

• Sonication

• Preparing water and soil samples for metals analysis.

• Performing digestions with concentrated acids

• Learning the Eurofins Laboratory Information Management System

• Learning the Mercury Analysis

• Liquid rack set up

• Resolving discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.

• Preparing general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks.

• Washing laboratory glassware to prepare for next day’s samples.

• Stocking laboratory supplies.

• Cleaning work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment.

• Assisting other laboratory areas as needed.

The ideal candidate would possess:

• Comfortable with a fast-paced time sensitive laboratory work
• Ability to use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts
• Ability to use TALS (Laboratory Information Management System)
• Ability to complete work within time and quality constraints
• Can work independently following written or verbal instructions
• Cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing

Full-time entry level position Mon-Fri schedule 12:00pm- 8:30pm Compensation $17.50 plus eligible for benefits

This is an entry level position, those looking to gain experience in a laboratory setting without a 4 year degree encouraged to apply.

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• High school Chemistry coursework preferred.
• Basic laboratory experience preferred
• Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Samples will be in coolers packed in ice.
• Perform other duties as assigned
