Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform field and laboratory testing, observation and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates and concrete. You will communicate test results to the Project/Lab Manager and prepare written and digital reports for daily transmittals.

Under close supervision, you will assist with basic testing, maintain equipment, follow safety rules, and participate in pre-task planning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months experience required.
• Valid driver's license may be required.
• ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
• Internal safety certifications completed.

Responsibilities

• Assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations under supervision.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
• Communicate information to Project/Lab Manager for submittal.
• Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project/Lab Manager.
• Be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
• Maintain equipment and keep work areas clean.
• Follow safety rules and pre-task planning before executing work.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Job description

General Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, and concrete). Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative and others as applicable regarding the lab test results. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project/Lab Manager. Maintain and clean equipment including associated work areas. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles And Responsibilities

• Under close supervision of higher level technicians or staff professionals, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Communicates information to Project/Lab Manager and discusses accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
• Submits documentation and communicates results as directed by the Project/Lab Manager
• Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
• Maintains equipment.
• Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

• 6 months experience required.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Required Qualifications

• Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
