Title: Quality Control Laboratory Technician/Lab Technician

Duration: 12 months

Location: Millsboro, DE

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting advanced laboratory procedures independently under the leadership of the area lead and department manager for testing veterinary biologicals according to strict government and company-imposed guidelines, working with various technical equipment, and completing Quality Testing.

At all times, technicians must follow Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), adhere to all safety and company policies, and perform duties assigned by department management. A Quality Control Laboratory Technician must possess thorough knowledge of the principles used in testing procedures and understand the materials evaluated, such as viruses, bacteria, or cell lines.

Key Functions:

1. Demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a safe work environment.
2. Perform laboratory testing using aseptic techniques in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
3. Understand and comply with all safety and company policies and procedures.
4. Maintain and evaluate the analysis standards used in testing.
5. Enter test results into the QC tracking system and cross-check records.
6. Clean work areas including floors, walls, and tables.
7. Set up and operate equipment.
8. Keep records including charts and logbooks.
9. Report unusual or non-routine occurrences.
10. Perform advanced calculations, conversions, and formulations.
11. Manage hazardous, universal, or infectious wastes as responsible.

Environmental Working Conditions:

• Indoor/outdoor work with varying temperatures, including entering coolers and freezers.
• Majority of time spent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, shoes, LN gear, face shields, aprons, and gloves, as per safety policies.

Education:

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent with three years of laboratory experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a science discipline.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

• Experience with analytical instrumentation, microscopic analysis, and biological assays.
• Proven analytical aptitude and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

• Post-offer rabies titer and vaccination, performed onsite.
