Job description

Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Millsboro, DE

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Shift: Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet manufacturing demands, including overtime, holidays, and weekends. Shift hours will rotate throughout the month as needed:

• 1st Shift – 6am – 2:30pm
• 2nd Shift – 8am – 4:30pm
• 3rd Shift – 10am – 6:30pm
• 4th Shift – 12pm – 8:30pm

On average, the worker will work 2 different adjacent shifts each week. Must be flexible.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00 USD hourly on W2

Job Description:

Our Manufacturing Operations teams are responsible for producing our products with a focus on safety and quality, striving for continuous improvement. Located in Millsboro, DE, our Biotechnology Center of Excellence manufactures, fills, packages, and distributes vaccines for animals, including mammalian, insect, and avian cell culture production, live bird vaccine production, embryonated egg vaccine production, roller bottle vaccine production, bioreactor vaccine production, and downstream processing.

Following Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures, and adhering to safety and company policies, duties include:

• Cleaning work areas and equipment
• Preparing, sterilizing, and handling glassware and equipment
• Assisting with equipment setup and operation
• Performing aseptic procedures and environmental monitoring
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Ensuring safety and compliance at all times
• Formulation, filling, labeling, capping, and visual inspection of vaccines
• Assisting in training new team members
• Reporting unusual occurrences
• Managing hazardous waste, if trained
• Handling poultry during tissue harvesting or waste processing
• Reviewing and developing SOPs
• Reviewing production records and data entry
• Participating in training and meetings
• Monitoring and requisitioning supplies

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: High School diploma/GED with lab experience or Bachelor’s degree with lab experience

Required Experience and Skills:

• At least 1 year of lab experience
• Ability to apply knowledge and recognize problems
• Ability to work within deadlines
• Effective communication skills
• Experience with aseptic clean room behaviors preferred
• Basic math skills
• Ability to stand for long periods

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Laboratory experience
• Background in biology or chemistry
• Mechanical aptitude
