Job summary

Eurofins USA Food Testing in Des Moines, IA seeks a Prox I or Prox II - 1st shift (Tue-Sat, 8am-4:30pm) to join our quality-focused laboratory team. You will follow Quality System documents, perform daily testing, weigh samples, maintain records, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma with 0–3 years of experience and a basic understanding of ISO 17025 guidelines. We offer comprehensive benefits and a strong team environment in a full-time role.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow Quality System documents (Quality Manual, SOPs, Methods, Local Policies).
• Adhere to quality measures meeting ISO/IEC 17025 and regulatory requirements.
• Follow company guidelines and procedures relevant to duties.
• Adhere to health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Assist in daily assaying of samples and perform testing from a daily work list.
• Set up batches of samples to weigh and weigh samples.
• Identify from assayed samples the need for rechecks.
• Prepare solutions used in daily testing of designated samples.
• Maintain neat and accurate records and log data in logbook/BookMaster/eLIMS.
• Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Identify method/matrix/analytical difficulties and report to supervisor with solutions.
• Ensure proprietary methodologies are not disclosed to non-employees.
• Maintain readiness to respond to queries from clients and staff.
• Remain current on technical trends as advised by supervisor.
• Recommend more accurate or efficient lab equipment or procedures.
• Promote the company image through ethical business practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Prox I or Prox II - 1st shift Tue - Sat (8am - 4:30pm)

1. Understand and follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Quality Manual, SOPs, Methods, and Local Policies.

   1. Adhere to appropriate quality measures, which meet or exceed the standards set by ISO/IEC 17025, government regulatory, and company requirements.

   2. Follow all company guidelines and procedures relevant to assigned duties.

   3. Adhere to all pertinent health, safety, and environmental regulations.

   4. Assist in the daily assaying of samples. Perform testing from a daily work list.

   5. Set up batches of samples to weigh and weigh samples.

   6. Identify from samples assayed the need for rechecks.

   7. Prepare solutions used in the daily testing of designated samples.

   8. Maintain a neat and accurate record system; keep accurate records of work performed on a daily basis or as needed for quality control tests or regulatory purposes.

   9. Record test data and results for samples in logbook, record book or BookMaster and enter the data or results into eLIMS either manually or through automatic export in a timely and accurate manner.

   10. Maintain a safe and clean laboratory; clean work area and glassware used in analyses, dispose of hazardous wastes according to established procedures; assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

   11. Identify method/matrix/analytical difficulties and report these together with proposed solutions to supervisor.

   12. Ensure that proprietary methodologies are not disclosed to non-employees except as approved in writing by the Laboratory Manager or appointed designate.

   13. Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and co-workers.

   14. Remain current on technical, industry, and business advancements and trends as suggested by Department Leader or supervisor.

   15. Recommend more accurate or efficient laboratory equipment or procedures.

   16. Maintain cooperative working relationships with all company employees. Communicate orally and in writing to co-workers. This includes “intra” and “inter” departmental employees.

   17. Promote the company image through the exercising of sound and ethical business practices as related to the public and our customers.

   18. Other duties, as assigned.
