Job summary

Clinton Hospital Authority in Clinton, OK is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform waived to high complexity testing, including venipuncture and specimen collection, while observing all safety precautions.

You will handle specimen processing, operate and maintain instruments, perform phlebotomy, and ensure HIPAA compliance, accuracy, and proper handling of samples in a team-oriented lab setting.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in science; at least 1 year of general laboratory experience.
  • AMT or ASCP certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assess and process specimens for testing in the general laboratory and reference labs.
  • Ensure all instruments QC and maintenance was performed in a timely manner.
  • Train newly hired lab personnels if needed.
  • Scan reference lab results.
  • Observe all established ‘universal safety precautions’ including proper handling of specimens as biohazards.
  • Monitors work environment to identify and improve potentially unsafe practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory.
  • Understands the process of specimen collection, requirements, and storage.
  • Must be able to answer client/physician questions in a knowledgeable and courteous manner, including result retrieval in Lab computer and reference lab system.
  • Exercises good judgment and takes appropriate independent action as needed to perform his/her duties for the Lab.
  • Answers the phone in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Motivates others and effectively direct work assignments.
  • Identify and correct problems.
  • Review manual entries for results for accuracy.
  • Performs phlebotomy as needed including drawing blood, centrifugation of specimens.
  • May transport specimens from laboratory to nearby lab hospital if needed.
  • Follow HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Promote the philosophy and mission of the Lab within the company and with clients.
  • Report any compliance issues or concerns to the Compliance officer/HR
  • Order, pack and ship samples to be sent out to reference labs.
  • Print and review pending log at the end of each shift.
  • Any additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Summary

Job Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience


  • Associate or bachelor’s degree or science related degree. Must have at least 1 year of general laboratory experience.

  • AMT or ASCP certified required.
