Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support a biopharmaceutical manufacturing organization focused on bioassay testing and cell culture operations. This onsite role is based in Baltimore, MD.

The candidate will prepare media, culture and maintain cell lines, assist with bioassays, analyze data, and ensure GMP/SOP adherence while supporting inventory and documentation efforts.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with 2+ years of related experience, or bachelor’s degree with 0–2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of laboratory practices, cell culture techniques, or biological assay environments.
• Understanding or ability to develop proficiency in GMP and SOP requirements.
• Strong documentation, organization, and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work in a regulated laboratory environment and complete required safety training.
• Proficiency with data analysis, laboratory documentation, and inventory management.
• Ability to work rotating weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cell culture media including Iscove’s complete media, Bioassay media, and 0.1% Trypan Blue.
• Thaw, culture, maintain, document, and cryopreserve cell lines in compliance with GMP standards.
• Perform Cellular Response Assays and assist with bioassays and Fetal Bovine Serum evaluations.
• Conduct statistical analysis and review of bioassay results.
• Monitor, maintain, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and facilities per SOPs.
• Maintain GMP documentation, draft SOPs and reports, and support laboratory record archival.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, cycle counts, and laboratory stocking.
