Job summary

Boston Scientific is seeking a Laboratory Tech – S2 (Lab Tech II) to perform a variety of chemical, biological, or microbiological analyses in support of the quality program. You will interpret results, recommend corrective actions, and develop/modify analytical methods for efficiency.

The role involves training across automated instrumentation and may include transfer of methodology from R&D, with responsibilities including sample handling, test result archival, and ensuring adherence to GMP

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in biology or microbiology with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of GMP, CAPAs and Quality Assurance.
  • Equipment such as dry bath, pH meters, incubators, air tester and other laboratory tools.
  • Media preparation, solutions, and dilutions.
  • Microbiological tests such as Bioburden, BET, Environmental Monitoring, Bacterial Identification.
  • Support laboratory investigations.
  • Write procedures and conduct validations.
  • Fully bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine laboratory tests in the metallurgical/chemical and microbiological areas, per procedures and specs.
  • Interpret test results and examine for unusual characteristics.
  • Troubleshoot procedures and determine root causes of deviations.
  • Send samples and coordinate follow-up for outside testing (environmental, mechanical, etc.).
  • Purchase laboratory supplies and manage lab records for archiving.
  • Administer test requests flow from logging to filing and archiving.
  • Conduct equipment PM, qualifications and calibrations as needed.

Laboratory Tech – S2 (Lab Tech II)

Performs a variety of chemical, biological or microbiological analyses on products, raw materials, in‑process materials, or stability samples in support of the company's quality program. Interprets and evaluates the analyses in terms of accuracy and precision and recommends corrective action where necessary. Applies existing techniques and procedures with recommendations and implementation of modification for improved efficiency, or devises and develops new analytical methods and techniques. May also be involved in establishing requirements for the transfer of methodology from R&D. Performs qualitative tests or quantitative assays on samples using techniques that vary from use of standard analytical equipment to highly modern and automated instrumentation. May require knowledge of one or more of the following automated techniques: gas, liquid, thin layer or column chromatography, ion exchange, infrared, ultraviolet and visible spectrophotometry and microscopy.

  • Provide routine laboratory tests in the metallurgical/mechanical, chemical and microbiological areas, in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
  • Interprets test results and examines for unusual characteristics.
  • Troubleshoots procedures that may have been compromised, thus determining the potential cause of unexpected results of routine tests.
  • Sends samples and provides the required follow‑up for outside testing: environmental, mechanical, process monitoring, etc.
  • Purchase of laboratory supplies.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and documents the status of lab records for archiving.
  • Administers the flow of test requests, from logging in through filing and archiving.
  • Conducts equipment PM, qualifications and calibrations as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in biology or microbiology and 3+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of Education /Work Experience
  • Knowledge of GMP, CAPAs and Quality Assurance.
  • Equipment (such as dry bath, pH meters, incubators, air tester) and laboratory tools.
  • Media preparation, solutions, and dilutions.
  • Microbiological tests such as Bioburden, Bacterial Endotoxin Test (BET), Environmental Monitoring (viable and non‑viable and water testing), Bacterial Identification.
  • Support laboratory investigations.
  • Write procedures and conduct validations
