Job summary

UPMC Jameson is seeking a Flex Full-Time Laboratory Support Technician to join our team of lab professionals. The role focuses on cytology preparation and FNA work in the anatomical pathology lab, with daylight shifts and no on-call requirements.

Responsibilities include handling specimen processing, QA/QC tasks, and order fulfillment, with potential support at UPMC Horizon‑Shenango Valley as needed. A BS in Biology or Chemistry is preferred and opportunities for career advancement are in place.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or Chemistry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone inquiries and investigates specimen status.
• Performs routine instrument maintenance and QA/QC procedures as assigned.
• Prepares specimens at workstations for testing, builds worklists, checks specimens for acceptability (clots, QNS).
• Prepares microscopic slides and handles microbiologic growth media as required.
