Job summary

Camin Cargo Control Inc. in Port Arthur, TX seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to assist management in daily lab operations. You will oversee test procedures, ensure safety, and support the Lab Manager while upholding the company’s policies and quality culture.

You will guide lab staff, ensure adequate resources, maintain training and competency records, and drive continuous improvement while aligning with ISO requirements and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science field or an Associate degree with related experience.
• At least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure lab staff have resources to perform all aspects of work.
• Ensure lab staff are adequately trained to safely perform required functions and maintain competency records.
• Ensure compliance with all corporate policy procedures in the laboratory.
• Assist Lab Manager with sales, profits, costs and expenses to meet/exceed budgeted financial expectations for the laboratory.
• Provide employee motivation and champion the Quality system (SQC, Calibrations, QA, Training, Round Robins).
• Communicate with lab staff and management to promote empowerment and accountability.
• Obtain and maintain in-depth knowledge of local market requirements.
• Understand customer requirements and organize lab procedures, schedules, and staffing to meet/exceed them.
• Foster customer confidence in CCC laboratory work.
• Support ISO certificates and manage corrective/preventive actions.
• Review local laboratory operations for continuous improvement.
• Recommend measures to improve testing procedures and equipment; work with senior lab management on new procedures.

Position Summary

Assists Management in the responsibility for all day-to-day laboratory operations. Represents the policies, ethics, and culture of the company in a leadership role. Assists and understudies Lab Manager through closely monitoring lab-related customer service, troubleshooting, and problem solving. Supervises and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in performing chemical and physical tests required for quality control of processes and products

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• Ensures laboratory practices meet or exceed company policy and industry standards.
• Establishes or adjusts work schedules to meet testing requirements and control costs.
• Assists with maintaining time, training, calibration, QC and testing records.
• Other duties as may be assigned by Lab Management, and/or senior management.

Fitness for Duty – Physical Demands

Workday may consist of 8-12 hours however this can vary day to day and shift to shift. Some of the retain work is performed outdoors, wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and could include possible exposure to high and low temperatures for a prolonged duration of time. Laboratory work is normally performed indoors under climate-controlled conditions.
