Position Summary

The Laboratory Supervisor will oversee laboratory staff within our outpatient care centers and travel to these sites as necessary. Under the general supervision of the Administrative Laboratory Director, the Laboratory Supervisor plans, organizes, and oversees the operational activities of the hospital and OCC Laboratory and Phlebotomy Departments.

Responsibilities

• Assists Medical Technologists/Technicians and other laboratory staff in day‑to‑day operations.
• Makes assignments and evaluates technical performance within assigned sections of the laboratory.
• Creates an effective working relationship with all employees.
• Maintains technical expertise in specifically assigned sections of the laboratory and phlebotomy departments while ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies’ standards.
• Performs a variety of routine laboratory tests requiring independent judgment, speed and accuracy.
• Leverages collaboration with other health care professionals to provide data for the most accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases, optimizing patient outcomes.
• Assumes the authority and responsibilities of the Administrative Laboratory Director in their absence and can make sound decisions across the full scope of the laboratory.
• Represents the laboratory at various meetings and committees as assigned.
• Oversees projects related to future laboratory endeavors.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences or related field required.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a laboratory management role.
• Certification/Licensure: ASCP or AMT Certified.
