Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED is required.

• ASCP MLA certification is acceptable.
• Enrollment with two semesters completed in related field is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, accessions, and processes patient specimens for testing.
• Safely handles potentially infectious materials per regulatory standards.
• Matches order information with specimen information for accuracy and safety.
• Prepares specimens including centrifugation, labeling, and aliquoting.
• Delivers prepared specimens to testing areas in a timely manner.
• Maintains logs, quality control, and disinfection procedures.

Education
