Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk seeks a Director to lead Laboratory Services. The role drives strategic planning, oversees diagnostic delivery, quality, and safety programs, and coordinates across departments to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include budgeting, technology evaluation, policy development, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on continuous service expansion and operational excellence within a large, multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• NYS Education Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or Eligible.
• ASCP Board of Registry or other preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in all routine clinical and anatomical laboratory areas.
• Approximately 5 to 7 years progressive management experience.
• Experience in organizing and directing activities of a large staff.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements effective delivery of diagnostic services.
• Develops and implements Department P.I. Program.
• Oversees, develops and implements new technical procedures and equipment.
• Participates in Hospital committees and assists other departments with workflow and organizational changes outside laboratory services.
• Serves as technical resource to hospital and medical staff.
• Oversees and serves as technical consultant for all laboratory disciplines.
• Develops and implements operating budgets for all laboratory sections.
• Monitors lab system accuracy and reporting; updates policies as needed.
