Job summary

Fate Therapeutics is seeking a Laboratory Operations professional to support Facilities, Technical Operations, and R&D at our San Diego headquarters. This role focuses on hands‑on lab operations, equipment installation, calibration, maintenance, and redeployment while ensuring GDP and SOP compliance.

You will manage vendor interactions, maintain calibration schedules, and coordinate with Manufacturing end users to keep labs running efficiently and safely in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of laboratory operations and equipment maintenance experience in biotech/pharma.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Exposure to Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
• Mechanical knowledge of lab equipment and troubleshooting.
• Requires the use of basic math skills and the ability to use calibration equipment.
• Proficient problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent cross-functional communication with R&D, Technical Operations, and Manufacturing.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, flexible, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a point of contact to support R&D, Tech Ops, and Manufacturing facilities requests.
• Plan short- and long-term lab activities and coordinate equipment calibration and relocation.
• Execute lab operations tasks and work orders on schedule.
• Maintain equipment lists and enroll new equipment in calibration schedules.
• Implement policies and protocols for equipment and lab activities.
• Use databases to track assets, records, and documents.
• Document calibration and maintenance with compliance to SOPs.
• Escort vendors and ensure documentation is complete.
• Support maintenance of Facilities working standards.
• Interact with other departments to resolve issues.
• Maintain safe work environment and PPE compliance.
• Maintain equipment records and systems.
• Work independently and make sound judgments.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors for services per policy.
