Position Summary

FYR Bio is seeking a dependable part-time Laboratory Operations Assistant to support day-to-day laboratory upkeep, organization, and routine operations. By keeping shared spaces, supplies, and assigned maintenance tasks in order, this role helps scientific staff focus on specialized laboratory operations. Responsibilities may expand after training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Keep laboratory benches, floors, and shared work areas clean and orderly.
  • Remove trash and recycling; handle laboratory waste as trained.
  • Restock, label, put away, and rotate routine supplies.
  • Complete and document recurring maintenance and housekeeping checklists.
  • Report equipment, facility, safety, or supply concerns.
  • Follow safety procedures, written instructions, and PPE requirements.
  • After demonstrating reliable performance, additional training opportunities include equipment records, cold storage, LIMS inventory, aliquoting, buffer preparation, and selected laboratory tasks.
Measures of Success
  • Recurring upkeep, restocking, and checklist tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Laboratory spaces remain clean, organized, and ready for use; concerns are reported promptly.
  • New duties are learned safely, with related records maintained accurately.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant coursework in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, laboratory science, or a related area.
  • Prior laboratory, stockroom, facilities, or operations experience.
  • Interest in biotechnology laboratory operations and learning new equipment or inventory systems.
  • Proficient in pipetting techniques and experience with sterile laboratory practices.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed on-site in a biotechnology laboratory.
  • Routine standing, walking, bending, cleaning, and moving supplies are expected.
  • Approximately 12-20 hours per week that overlap office hours anytime from 8-5 Monday-Friday
  • Required training, safety procedures, and PPE.
