Qualifications

• Graduate of a four-year degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) OR meets CLIA guidelines for complexity of lab testing.
• Minimum of 5 years in a hospital or clinic laboratory including 2 years of leadership experience.
• Experience developing and enforcing lab policies and procedures.
• Ability to lead continuous quality management and process improvement initiatives.
• Licensure/certification per state requirements (ASCP or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of clinic and hospital laboratories.
• Manage laboratory staff including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and evaluations.
• Develop and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and budgets.
• Lead quality management and process improvement initiatives.

Building Location: Support Services Center - Fargo Department: 3015010 LAB ADMINISTRATION - 32ND HOSP Job Description: Essentia Health is seeking a Laboratory Manager to join our team.

Location and Remote Options

This hybrid/remote position will oversee laboratory operations across multiple locations in our West Market, including Ada, Fosston, and Graceville, Minnesota. Location assignments may be adjusted based on organizational needs within the West Market. This role requires a minimum of one onsite visit per month to each assigned location.

Possible Remote/Hybrid Option: Remote Shift Rotation: Day Rotation (United States of America) Shift Start Time: Days Shift End Time: Days Weekends: No Holidays: No Call Obligation: No Union: Union.

Education Qualifications

Graduate of a four-year degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) OR Meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for alternative route.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a hospital or clinic laboratory that includes two years of leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations of clinic and/or hospital laboratories.
• Manage laboratory employees, including: Hiring and onboarding Scheduling and staffing Conflict resolution Performance evaluations Employee development Manage daily laboratory workflow and ensure operational efficiency.
• Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies and procedures.
• Conduct financial review and manage laboratory budgets and resources.
• Lead continuous quality management and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Serve as the CLIA director and/or technical consultant for designated laboratories.
• Interact directly with patients of all ages, as needed.
• Develop and maintain client relationships with organizations outside Essentia Health.
• Participate in assigned Laboratory Department teams to support the laboratory system’s strategic plan and objectives.
• Collaborate with other departments and committees to maintain a high level of patient care.
• Promote and support the mission and vision of Essentia Health.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications

• Current American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification Maintains licensure per state requirement if working in North Dakota sites or Moorhead, MN site.
