Job summary

NeoGenomics Laboratories, Inc. in Aliso Viejo, CA is seeking a Laboratory Inventory Specialist I to help maintain reagent and supply inventory and support production in a clinical laboratory. The role involves following procedures, coordinating orders, assisting with QA activities, and performing basic tasks under supervision.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Candidates will learn inventory control, record-keeping, and safety practices while contributing to the team’s goal of

Responsibilities

• Orders, sorts, receives inventory from the warehouse.
• Maintains department inventory and orders supplies as needed.
• Drives organization of reagents and supplies within the department.
• Performs inventory cycle counts as needed (monthly; quarterly, etc.).
• Records required information in laboratory logbooks, specimen accession sheets, workflow drafts, etc., to ensure quality assurance of reagents/supplies.
• Prepares reagents for laboratory procedures as directed in the procedure manual and under the supervision of a certified technologist
• Participates in QA activities as assigned
• Maintains files for department records
• Performs various filing, mailing, and copying tasks as needed
• Disposes of biohazardous material according to established procedures as needed
• Completes training and competency checklists as needed
• Sends and receives casesto and from satellite laboratories
• Reports problems concerning individual cases, tests, equipment and supplies to laboratory supervisor or lead technologist to ensure timely resolution
• Assists with the department quality improvement or safety program
• Other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor/Manager or Lead Technologist
• Performs simple laboratory tasks of operating equipment, printing extra labels, recording data, and specimen storage and retrieval and other clerical duties as assigned
• May perform various housekeeping

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Assistant will assist the department in performing various basic laboratory procedures to maintain appropriate reagent and supply inventory to facilitate production. This in an entry level position in the clinical laboratory job family and employees in this position may not manipulate samples.
