Job summary

University Health is seeking a Laboratory Info Processing Specialist for UH Lakewood Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The role performs clerical duties in the Clinical Laboratory, logs and processes specimens, answers calls, and handles specimen transport.

Phlebotomy is required for outpatients on the first shift, with weekend/holiday rotation as needed. Works under close supervision with prioritization guidance provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Verbal communication to answer telephone, greet patients and visitors, respond to information requests.
• Knowledge of human development process and ability to work with patients of all ages.
• Written communication to take messages.
• Computer aptitude to use a keyboard and Windows environment.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to walk long distances while pushing a cart.
• Ability to file alphabetically or numerically.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotate shifts.
• Preferred: Completion of course in medical terminology
• Preferred: Previous phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

• Logs in specimens and processes specimens for reference labs.
• Charts, files, answers telephone, and delivers specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy on outpatients (first shift only).
• Works under close supervision and receives direction on tasks and priorities.
