Cynet Health is seeking a Histotechnologist for a 13-week laboratory assignment. The role involves performing histological procedures on tissue specimens, processing, sectioning, staining, and delivering slides for daily review by pathologists.
Under supervision, you will prepare frozen sections when required, ensure accurate patient identification, maintain specimen accessioning, and handle indexing and storage with attention to quality and timeliness.

Description:This position involves working an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday.Under the direction of supervisors, the histotechnologist is responsible for the prompt, efficient, and accurate performance of a variety of histological procedures on tissue specimens.
The individual will be responsible for the identification and processing of all tissue specimens received in anatomic pathology.Each tissue specimen will be assigned an appropriate sequential accession number, maintaining absolute certainty of patient identification at all times throughout processing and handling procedures.Patient demographic information, specimen source, and physician and/or surgeon details must be entered accurately for each specimen received.
The histotechnologist will assist the pathologist with the gross examination of all tissue specimens.This includes providing accurately labeled tissue cassettes for each specimen as it is examined, loading and operating the tissue processor, and offering any assistance required during the examination.
The individual will be expected to meticulously process and cut sections from embedded tissue blocks.They will stain and deliver prepared slides to the pathologist in a timely manner for daily microscopic examination.Additionally, the histotechnologist will assist with frozen section preparation immediately after the specimen is received in the histology department.
Special histochemical staining procedures must be performed as required by the pathologist.These stains are to be completed within the timeframe requested for timely diagnostic reporting.The preparation of slides or other anatomical material for sending to other laboratories for consultation or processing will also be part of the role as deemed necessary by the pathologist.
Proper indexing and filing of tissue slides and blocks for storage and efficient retrieval must be maintained.The histotechnologist will ensure that slides are retained for the proper length of time before discarding, and assist with the rotation of all patient specimens located in storage sites as needed.
Holiday coverage will be required.
