Qualifications

• 2–3 years of laboratory or medical billing experience in a high‑volume environment.
• Proficiency with Kareo or AdvancedMD and clearinghouses; strong Excel skills.
• Solid CPT and ICD‑10 coding knowledge with keen attention to detail.
• Clear, professional communication; able to explain billing to patients and providers.

Responsibilities

• Submit clean claims to commercial insurers, Medicare, and Medi-Cal with accurate codes.
• Generate and send invoices for self-pay patients and direct client accounts.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations.
• Investigate denials and appeals to maximize reimbursement.
• Post payments and reconcile accounts, documenting adjustments.
• Respond to billing inquiries from patients, providers, and payers.
• Collaborate with lab operations, client services, and IT to resolve issues.
• Maintain HIPAA and CMS compliance in all billing activities.
• Produce regular billing reports and identify process improvements.
