Job summary

Macomb Community College seeks an organized Veterinary Assistant support staff member to assist instructors, prepare lab materials and maintain a safe, functional classroom and lab environment.

You will help with equipment, inventory, and administrative tasks, while guiding students in hands-on skills under faculty supervision and ensuring proper lab cleanup.

Qualifications

• Must hold current MI Veterinary Technician license.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical veterinary experience.
• Experience supporting classroom and laboratory activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

Perform various duties in support of full-time and part-time Veterinary Assistant Program staff. Assist in Veterinary Assistant lab activities to include animal care.

• Assist instructors in preparing for classroom and laboratory sessions.
• Prepare equipment and consumables for lab courses and related areas.
• Set up, maintain and provide students with a clean and organized lab and classroom environment. This includes the movement and organization of lab equipment and supplies as requested.
• Ensure all equipment functions properly and safely.
• Provide support to instructors and students during practical evaluation sessions of required skills.
• Guidance of small student groups through various skills under the instruction of faculty.
• Oversee proper cleanup of lab spaces after classes.
• Assist in maintenance of various medical equipment.
• Assist with tracking supplies and maintaining proper inventory control.
• Assist with administrative tasks related to the Veterinary Assistant program.
• May assist with data input.
• May move and unpack inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician with current licensing and requirements for the state of Michigan.Must have at least 2 years of clinical experience.
