Job summary

UL Solutions in Lowell, AR, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the Toy testing team, conducting safety, performance and quality assurance testing. You will contribute to creating safer products and gain hands-on experience with test plans and data interpretation.

You will operate basic lab equipment, document results and assist engineers in evaluating test data in a production‑driven environment.

  • Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests.

  • Records and explains test results.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
  • Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.

Our Retail Center of Excellence, in Lowell, AR, is looking for a Laboratory Assistant, to join the Toy testing team in conducting safety, performance and quality assurance testing. Be directly impactful in creating a safer world for everyone.



  • Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests.


  • Performs tests using general laboratory equipment.


  • Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.


  • Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.


  • As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets.


  • Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.


  • Records and explains test results.


  • Reads and interprets results of tests.


  • Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results.


  • Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.


  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.


  • As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case.


  • Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.


  • Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.


  • Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff.


  • Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets.


  • Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.


  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.


  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.


  • Performs other duties as directed.

Education


  • High school diploma or equivalent (Higher Secondary Education).


Skills & Competencies


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a production-focused environment.
