Job summary

Nemours Children's Health in Orlando, FL is seeking a Laboratory Assistant (Casual/PRN) to join our team. You will assist with specimen processing, filing, and clerical duties while supporting technicians, pathologists, and the Laboratory Director.

Responsibilities include receiving specimens, entering data, preparing samples, labeling, centrifuging, and coordinating with outside labs when needed. A High School diploma and 3–6 months of related experience are required, with MLS clinical

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 3–6 months related laboratory experience preferred.
• MLS program clinical rotation is considered relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming/outgoing communications for the department.
• Prepare specimens for testing and ensure proper labeling.
• Enter patient data and billing information into the computer system.
• Print and attach barcode labels to samples and requisitions.
• Centrifuge and prepare specimens for testing as needed.
• Coordinate with outside labs for tests not available on site.
• Handle clerical duties including faxing and filing.
