Job summary

Southcoast Health in Middletown, RI is seeking a Laboratory Assistant-Phlebotomist to support our patient-centered lab team. This role involves obtaining specimens, accurate labeling, processing, and delivering to lab departments while maintaining LIS entries.

The ideal candidate has completed a college-based phlebotomy program and ASCP BOC certification within two years of hire, is fully vaccinated, and will work day shifts with every 4th Saturday, with a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to successful completion of a college-based, nationally accredited, phlebotomy program or a Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
• ASCP BOC certification required within two years from date of hire.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or exempt by signing a statement.

Responsibilities

• Obtain specimens and volumes, label accurately, process and deliver to correct departments, and enter information in LIS. Generate reports and perform phlebotomy for inpatient and outreach locations. Maintain equipment and instrumentation.

We are searching for a talented Laboratory Assistant-Phlebotomist.

• $2,500 new hire sign-on bonus for this position. (rehires more than 1 year also eligible)*

Hours: 40hrs

Shift: Day shift, rotating shifts from 7:30am - 4:30pm with every 4th Saturday

Location: Linden Tree - Middletown, RI

Responsibilities

• Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Laboratory Site or designee, obtain correct specimens and volumes according to current procedures. Insure that all specimens are appropriately and accurately labeled. Process and deliver specimens to correct laboratory departments. Enter all specimen and patient information in LIS or department logs. Generate accurate reports in a timely fashion and distribute appropriately. Perform phlebotomy on inpatient, outreach clients, home draws, nursing homes, and outreach locations. Maintain equipment and instrumentation.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to successful completion of a college-based, nationally accredited, phlebotomy program or a Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
• Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC or equivalent) is required within two years from date of hire.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.

Pay Range: USD $21.94 - USD $28.82 /Hr.

Rotation Schedule Requirement: Every 4th Saturday
