Cape Fear Valley Health - Core Laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for part-time day shifts at Hoke Hospital in Raeford, NC. Under supervision, you will perform specimen processing, phlebotomy, and non-technical duties, contributing to timely and accurate testing.

You will handle registration, sample receipt, quality checks, and support for waived and point-of-care testing, with training provided for new staff and collaboration across the lab team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of full-time specimen processing, phlebotomy or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English.

Works in various areas of the laboratory, registering patients, collecting samples, and assessing the acceptability of samples for testing. Testing includes centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, and shipping. Provides support for clinical testing including preparation of slides, loading instrument, and result reporting. Performs waived and point-of-care testing and phlebotomy.# **Major Job Functions**The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.
