Job summary

Kaiser Permanente seeks a Laboratory Assistant in Roseville, CA to assist the Laboratory Director and Manager. You will draw blood, process specimens, document results, and support routine lab operations under supervision, within California lab law.

This role involves handling specimens, managing supplies, and contributing to patient care in a hospital setting. The position includes direct patient contact, on-site work, and shift coverage as scheduled with a day shift in a Labor Management

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy Technician I or II Certificate (California) preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Draws blood from patients finger, heel, or vein, observing asepsis to obtain samples.
• Obtains the correct amount and type of specimen.
• Documents all requests and released results of lab work accurately.
• Informs physicians of released lab results.
• Completes routing, handling, and processing of medical specimens.
• Orders, distributes and stocks supplies as needed.
• Trains and reports on the work performance of other Laboratory Assistants.
• Perform other related duties as necessary.

Job Summary

Under the direction and oversight of the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Manager, or designee, within the scope of Unlicensed Laboratory Personnel as described in B&PC 1269, receives and processes specimens, performs clerical tasks and performs phlebotomy. May operate automated or semi-automated test equipment, or plate and process microbiology specimens under the direct and constant supervision of a licensed person, as authorized by the California lab law.
