Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Laboratory Assistant II to join the Microbiology team in Indianapolis, IN. Work schedule typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with weekend rotation as needed.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, handling specimens, preparing reagents, and supporting testing personnel. Requires a High School Diploma and 1 year of lab experience; an Associate's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1 year laboratory assistant experience preferred.
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • 1 year Labcorp sample handling experience preferred.
  • 2 years laboratory assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform department duties per SOP and training checklist.
  • Adhere to Safety SOPs and Universal Precautions; maintain clean, organized workspace.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in applicable computer systems and software.
  • Handle specimens and prepare for analysis; contact internal clients for clarification.
  • Prepare and label reagents and quality control materials per SOP.

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to join our Microbiology team in Indianapolis, IN.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm. Weekend rotation as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Successfully performs the specific department duties as set forth in the task list and/or department training checklist.
  • Adheres to established Safety SOPs and Universal Precaution guidelines at all times. Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment. Minimizes biohazard waste. Cleans workstation and materials daily.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in applicable computer systems and software.
  • Properly handles specimens and resolves specimen issues independently in preparation for analysis and specimen storage. Contacts internal clients for clarification as needed.
    • Performs all procedures in accordance with the written department SOPs.
    • Generates an appropriate audit trail for all activities.
  • Provides support to testing personnel in preparation for sample analysis.
    • Receive, open, and place in service all reagents according to SOPs.
    • Prepare and properly label reagents and document according to SOPs.
    • Prepares and properly labels quality control material accurately.
  • Perform clerical functions as needed including timely filing of department records, printing of worksheets and other records, and preparing data for archival.
  • May assist in training new employees and follows-up to ensure training is understood.
  • May perform maintenance on instruments and equipment according to manufacturer and SOP requirements, and documents according to SOP. Notifies laboratory management when an instrument or equipment does not meet specifications.
  • May perform pipette calibrations and document according to SOP.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • One year laboratory assistant experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates Degree
  • One year Labcorp Sample Handling Experience
  • Two years laboratory assistant experience
Additional Job Standards
  • Excellent customer service skills including attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate customer service needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of procedures for sample receipt, transfer and storage.
  • Experience with office software applications (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

Pay Range

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Benefits

Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
