Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepares specimens for analysis by registering and accessioning orders via Laboratory Information Systems.
  • Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
  • Assists in preparation and processing of bone marrow specimens.
  • Provides support functions to technologists including loading and maintaining instruments, preparing reagents, thawing, pooling, importing, and issuing blood products and maintenance of equipment.
  • Operates, maintains, and repairs clinical laboratory equipment within training scope, including QC and safety checks.
  • Completes culture setup of microbiology samples and gram stain preparation when staffed in Microbiology.
  • Performs phlebotomy to ensure timely processing of lab orders.
  • Provides laboratory customer service and performs clerical duties and stock maintenance.

We aspire to the Five Rights of Laboratory Testing: performing the right test on the right patient at the right time for the right indicators leading to the right diagnostic decision.Summary:Prepares specimens for analysis by registering and accessioning orders via Laboratory Information Systems (clinical lab and/or anatomic pathology), verifying specimen acceptability.** 5 days/week- Rotating weekends and holidays required.Responsibilities:Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.Assists in the preparation and processing of bone marrow specimens.Provides support functions to technologists including the loading and maintaining of instruments, making up of reagents, thawing, pooling, importing, and issuing of blood products, and maintenance and function checks. Keeps appropriate persons informed of instrument problems and resolutions.Operates, maintains, and repairs clinical laboratory equipment within the scope of training including waived testing, routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, quality control and safety checks.Completes culture setup of microbiology samples and gram stain preparation when staffed in Microbiology department.Performs the phlebotomy function to ensure accurate and timely processing of lab test orders.Provides laboratory customer service to include request for add-ons, specimen collection information, phlebotomy requests, result inquiry, etc.Performs clerical duties. Also maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies.
