Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains laboratory supplies in technologist work areas; restocks supplies if necessary.
• Checks all storage areas in laboratory for any surplus stock and distributes accordingly.
• Maintains and performs preventative maintenance on major laboratory equipment.
• Performs and documents quality control on laboratory equipment.
• Files routine laboratory reports, donor lab work cards and patient transfusion records.
• Prepares and stocks any necessary technical forms and specimen numbers.
• Maintains the cleanliness and tidiness of the laboratory.

Position Summary

Frequently lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing 11 to 20 pounds. Regularly stooping and bending. Regularly reaching and grasping objects below shoulder level, frequently reaching and grasping objects at shoulder level and occasionally reaching and grasping objects above shoulder level. Frequently pushing and/or pulling non motorized equipment (e.g., stretcher, food cart, mop, etc.) weighing 11 to 20 pounds and regularly pushing and/or pulling non motorized equipment weighing over 50 pounds. Frequently grasping and fine manipulation with hands. Regularly sitting and standing. Regularly proofreading and checking documents for accuracy. Regularly inputting/retrieving words or data into or from an automated/computer system.
