Laboratory Assistant/ Accessioner/ Processor

Job Description

The Lab Accessioner/Processor works from 6:30 pm to 3:00 am, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities include performing specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced environment according to laboratory SOPs. Ensuring specimen integrity and accurate data entry, facilitating smooth workflow, and performing duties assigned by supervisors or the Medical Director are key aspects of this role.

Responsibilities
  • Receiving, sorting, and handling gynecologic specimens
  • Routing specimens to respective laboratory sections
  • Verifying all patient specimens match requisitions and comply with CAP and CLIA guidelines
  • Proper storage and testing of specimens
  • Accurate data entry into the LIS system and printing labels as needed
  • Processing cytology specimens in compliance with CLIA and CAP
  • Maintaining quality control and safety standards
  • Documenting discrepancies during receiving
  • Preparing lists for special testing specimens
  • Filing cytology slides after review
  • Handling and disposing of medical and chemical waste
Qualifications

Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment while maintaining quality standards. Knowledge of lab safety practices and compliance with health and safety policies are essential.
