We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team in California. The Laboratory Assistant will support the andrology laboratory by performing a variety of tasks related to semen analysis, sperm processing, and other laboratory procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient care, laboratory safety, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Semen Analysis and Processing:
- Perform routine semen analyses, including assessment of sperm concentration, motility, and morphology in automated analyzer and manually.
- Prepare and process semen samples for procedures such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
- Ensure accurate labeling and tracking of all specimens.
- Laboratory Support:
- Be able to learn and run hormone analyzer (TOSOH AIA 900).
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Prepare reagents as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Quality Control:
- Participate in quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Document and report any deviations from standard operating procedures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance protocols.
- Participate proficiency testing and submitting the results.
- Patient Interaction:
- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding sample collection.
- Answer patient questions and address concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Administrative Duties:
- Be able to learn and use witnessing system thorough out the processes.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities and patient interactions.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking of supplies.
- Support the andrology team with various administrative tasks as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., biology, medical technology) preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting is highly desirable.
- Experience in an andrology or fertility laboratory is a plus.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems and basic computer applications.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to handle and operate laboratory equipment.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform detailed laboratory work.
Work Environment:
- The position is based in a clinical andrology laboratory within a fertility clinic or hospital setting.
- Compliance with all safety and regulatory standards is mandatory.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
