Job summary

Altasciences in Everett, WA is seeking a laboratory support role to assist Anatomic Pathology staff in daily operations. You will help maintain the lab environment, assist with necropsy prep, tissue trimming, and H&E staining, while ensuring proper documentation and GLP compliance.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with biology coursework preferred. Good reading, writing, and verbal communication skills are essential for success in a dynamic lab setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Undergraduate coursework in Biology or related sciences preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions and SOPs.
• Ability to speak effectively and understand instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean and orderly laboratory environment.
• Assist with necropsy and trimming preparation.
• Perform fixed tissue trimming.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Order warehouse supplies and data entry to laboratory inventory records.
• Ensure proper documentation and labeling of laboratory reagents.
• Dispose of hazardous chemicals and maintain chemical records.
• Perform paraffin tissue processing and routine H&E staining with coverslipping.
• Documentation and data review to GLP regulations.
• Assist staff with study-related procedures.

About The Role

Supports the Anatomic Pathology personnel in conducting daily processes, assists staff in the operation and maintenance of equipment, instrumentation, and overall care in the laboratory environment.

What You’ll Do Here

• Maintains a safe, clean and orderly laboratory environment.
• Assists with necropsy and trimming preparation.
• Performs fixed tissue trimming.
• Operates and maintains equipment.
• Ordering of warehouse supplies and data entry to laboratory inventory records.
• Ensures proper documentation and labeling of laboratory reagents.
• Disposition of hazardous chemical, generation of the hazardous chemical lab pack and data entry to the laboratory hazardous chemical records Performs paraffin tissue processing.
• Performs routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and coverslipping of microscopic slides.
• Documentation and data review practices in compliance with GLP regulations.
• Assists staff with study-related procedures.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• High school diploma or GED required; undergraduate work in Biology or related sciences preferred.
• Language(s) Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, study documents and standard operation procedures.
  • Ability to speak effectively and understand instructions and correspondence of the organization.
• Other Requirements:
  • Additional skills required includes, but not limited to: general reading, writing and verbal communication skills.

The hourly range estimated for this position is $20 - $25/hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
