Job summary

A leading-edge medical laboratory testing company in Durham, NC is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to process and submit specimens. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 3 years of experience in a clinical lab and a high school diploma. Responsibilities include managing paperwork, ensuring accuracy of specimen identification, and maintaining logs. The position requires strong organizational skills and computer proficiency. This is a contract role with evening shifts from Tuesday to Saturday.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of experience in a clinical lab.
• Legal authorization to work in the US.
• Ability to maintain logs/records and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform all paperwork and procedures required to process specimens.
• Assign identification numbers and check for accuracy.
• Forward specimens to designated laboratory locations.
• Locating and correcting any discrepancies
• Learn and keep familiar with lab procedures and location of stored specimens
• Locates specimens and pulls from various departments as requested
• Administrative: Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications
• Operate a personal computer

• Assigns specific computer generated identification numbers, checks for accuracy, and records all items processed
• Forwards accessioned specimens to designated laboratory location(s)
• Locating and correcting any discrepancies
• Learn and keep familiar with lab procedures and location of stored specimens
• Locates specimens and pulls from various departments as requested
• Administrative: Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications
• Operate a personal computer

• Pay: DOE
• Shifts: Tues-Sat, 4PM-12:30AM
• 2Month Contract +/-
