Job summary

Providence St. Joseph's Hospital in Chewelah, WA is seeking Laboratory Assistants II to support clinical laboratory duties including phlebotomy (capillary, venipuncture, arterial), specimen processing, and LIS testing under supervision.

You will collect urine samples, prepare specimens for reference labs, take test orders, register patients, and coordinate with lab staff. WA phlebotomy certification or clinical lab experience within 90 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• Within 90 days of hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
• Clinical laboratory experience, or completion of approved phlebotomy program
• Capable of performing phlebotomy and basic lab tasks under supervision

Description

Laboratory Assistants II are responsible for clinical laboratory duties, including:

Phlebotomy-obtaining blood samples by capillary puncture, venipuncture and arterial puncture, processing specimens.

Collection and procurement-instructing patients in proper collection of urine and other samples, and preparing samples for reference laboratories.

Utilizing Laboratory Information System (LIS)-performing waived tests and moderately complex tests under supervision.

Taking orders for tests and clerical functions-patient registration, communication with customer/clients and lab staff.
