Job summary

Atrium Health in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Laboratory Animal Technician Trainee to support care and maintenance of laboratory animals and facilities in a research and teaching environment. Under supervision, you will perform essential tasks to ensure animal welfare and compliance.

This entry-level role requires a High School diploma or GED and exposure to lab animals; AALAS Assistant Technician certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with previous lab animal experience.
• AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certification preferred.
• Ability to safely handle and restrain animals and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Capable of duties for Laboratory Animal Technician Trainee (LATT).
• Safely handles and restrains all animal species with proper ID/location.
• Assembles caging equipment for safe housing of species.
• Completes weekly supply and diet inventory and documents it.
• Communicates information to clinical, supervisory, and management staff in writing and verbally.
• Provides environmental enrichment and assists with enrichment needs.
