Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks an Administrative Hearing Officer to oversee disciplinary hearings, review grievances, and ensure compliance with board policies and bargaining agreements. This is a full-time, exempt position with salary paid on a salary basis.

A Juris Doctorate is required, Illinois license preferred, and a minimum of three years in labor relations or related fields. Residency in Chicago is expected for CPS employees.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law program is required.
• Illinois license to practice law strongly preferred.
• Degree in education or related field a plus.
• Minimum of three years in labor relations or related fields (public school setting ok).
• Ability to analyze facts and write clear, concise analyses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct administrative hearings in discipline cases and determine appropriate actions.
• Conduct grievance meetings with labor representatives at the pre-arbitration stage.
• Counsel principals, administrators, and employees on compliance with agreements and policies/rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
