Job summary

GXO is seeking a Labor Optimization Manager in Lithia Springs, GA to lead workforce planning and labor optimization strategies across GXO’s logistics operations for a key customer. You will align labor resources with operational demand, driving efficiency, cost control, and service excellence.

As a mid-level manager, you will oversee planning processes, mentor a team of labor planners, and partner with site leadership, HR, and finance to ensure compliance and performance standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in labor planning, workforce management, or operations within logistics or distribution.
• 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, LMS and workforce planning systems (e.g., Kronos, Blue Yonder).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of labor laws, compliance, and workforce management best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain labor forecasts based on client demand, volume trends, and historical data.
• Create daily, weekly, and monthly labor schedules to optimize utilization.
• Monitor productivity metrics and recommend improvements.
• Partner with warehouse supervisors and HR to ensure staffing levels meet requirements.
• Coordinate with staffing agencies to secure temporary labor during peak periods.
• Implement and maintain labor management systems and planning tools.
• Provide regular reporting on labor performance, costs, and utilization.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce labor costs and improve efficiency.
• As volume grows, lead and mentor a team of labor planners and coordinators.
• Align labor plans with business objectives with site leadership, HR, and finance.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Strategic Labor Planning:
• Develop and maintain specific labor forecasts needs based on client demand/projections, volume trends, seasonal trends, and historical data.
• Create daily, weekly, and monthly labor schedules to optimize workforce utilization.
• Monitor productivity metrics (units per hour, cost per unit, overtime usage) and recommend improvements.
• Partner with warehouse supervisors and HR to ensure staffing levels meet operational requirements.
• Coordinate with staffing agencies to secure temporary labor during peak periods.
• Implement and maintain labor management systems (LMS) and workforce planning tools.
• Provide regular reporting on labor performance, costs, and utilization.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce labor costs and improve efficiency.
• As volume grows, lead and mentor a team of labor planners and coordinators.
• Partner with site leadership, HR, and finance to ensure alignment of labor plans with business objectives.
• Operational Execution:
• Monitor labor utilization and adjust plans to meet real-time operational changes.
• Ensure adherence to GXO and the customer’s compliance standards, safety protocols, and labor regulations.
• Data Analysis & Reporting:
• Provide actionable insights through workforce analytics and performance metrics.
• Deliver regular reports to senior leadership and the customer on labor efficiency and cost performance.
• Identify and implement process improvements to optimize labor planning and reduce inefficiencies.
• Support technology initiatives for automation and advanced workforce planning tools.

What you need to succeed atGXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in labor planning, workforce management, or operations within logistics or distribution.

2+ years in a supervisory or management role.

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, LMS and workforce planning systems (e.g., Kronos, Blue Yonder).

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Knowledge of labor laws, compliance, and workforce management best practices.

Experience supporting high-tech or e-commerce customers.
