Job summary

Goodwill San Antonio is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker to perform grass cutting, edging, trimming, and related tasks at Camp Bullis Range in San Antonio. You will support the organization’s mission by maintaining outdoor spaces, ensuring safety, and delivering friendly service to staff and visitors.

The role operates Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a hourly pay of $17.75. A valid driver’s license is required; prior landscaping experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a current, valid driver's license.
• Experience: 6+ months performing similar work.
• Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance tools.
• Reading and comprehension skills; analyze, evaluate situations, and develop alternatives for conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

• Cut grass with a push mower to specific requirements.
• Remove grass clippings, trash, and debris from the work site and dispose of trash.
• Operate grass trimmer in slopes and rough terrain.
• Use backpack blower to clear surfaced areas.
• Trim hedges and edge sidewalks, curbs, parking lots, and other surfaces.
• Maintain fence lines and remove new growth.
• Follow all safety requirements and wear PPE; ensure safe operation of equipment.

Position Summary

Perform grounds maintenance work activities such as grass cutting, edging, trimming/pruning, and limited landscaping. Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cut grass to specific requirements using a push mower.
• Remove grass clippings, trash, and debris from work site, and dispose of trash at collection point.
• Use grass/weed trimmer in areas (not accessible to riding or push mowers) such as slopes, canals, ditches, rough terrain, ramps, or drop-offs; may also be required to clean ramp areas, both over and under.
• Operate backpack blower to clear surfaced areas.
• Trim hedges and shrubs and edge sidewalks, curbs, parking lots, and other surfaced areas.
• Remove vines from fences and maintain fence lines cleared of new growth.
• Clean tools, working areas, and vehicles; perform basic service maintenance by following manufacturer’s directions before and after use of all equipment; conduct thorough inspection to assure safe use of equipment.
• Follow all Federal, State, and Agency safety requirements; wear safety equipment; follow the proper use of equipment according to the manufacturer’s directions; exercise extreme caution when changing directions on slopes to ensure maintaining balance while carrying and operating equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.

Requirements

• Must have a current, valid driver's license.
• Experience Preferred: 6+ months of experience performing similar work. Basic knowledge of and skilled in using various landscaping hand and power tools.
• Skills: Reading and comprehension skills. Analyze, evaluate situations, and develop alternatives for conflict resolution.
• Knowledge: Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance tools & equipment.
• OR equivalent combination of education, experience and/or military training.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
• For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
