Job summary

Fox Rothschild has an opening in the San Francisco office for an Associate in our Labor & Employment Department. The ideal candidate will have two to three years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of relevant experience.
• Defending against single plaintiff litigation matters (discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage-and-hour).
• Experience with PAGA matters is preferred.
• Class and representative actions experience preferred.
• Strong research and writing skills; good academic record.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day case responsibilities with moderate independence in collaboration with senior attorneys.
• Draft and respond to initial pleadings and discovery.
• Draft and argue motions and handle depositions.
• Provide employment law counseling under federal and state laws; not required but preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Experience in defending against single plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and reasonable accommodation.
• Experience with PAGA matters.
• Experience with class and representatives’ actions preferred.
• Ability to handle day‑to‑day case responsibilities with moderate independence and in collaboration with senior attorneys.
• Strong research, writing skills, and academic record.
• Experience drafting and responding to initial pleadings and discovery.
• Experience drafting and arguing motions, and deposition experience.
• Experience providing employment counseling on federal and state employment laws and regulations is preferred but not required.

The firm’s general expectation is that attorneys work in the office an average of three days a week.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.

Physical Requirements

• Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds.
• Work involves sitting most of the time.
• Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position applies to California. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $215,000 - $225,000.
