Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Night shift in the Labor and Delivery Unit 1. The role focuses on sterile field maintenance, instrument delivery, and assisting the surgeon as a second assistant during procedures.

Ideal candidates have OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or equivalent, a CAAHEP-accredited program, and BLS. A high school diploma or GED and ST certification are required or preferred; annual competency is emphasized. Night hours with a 36-hour week are listed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or equivalent military training or 10+ years’ experience as a Surgery Technician.
  • Graduated from an accredited (CAAHEP) surgical technologist school preferred or equivalent military training or 10+ years’ experience.
  • High school diploma or GED; BLS; ST certification preferred.
  • Must demonstrate basic critical thinking skills on their introductory team; perform independently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares for surgical cases by gathering supplies, equipment and instruments and reviews surgeon’s preferences.
  • Establishes and maintains a sterile field and presents instruments to the operating team; acts as 2nd assistant.
  • Delivers medications to the sterile field and assists with positioning, draping and specimen handling.
  • Can assist with casting, splinting, wound closure preparation, and handling of grafts and specimens as competencies allow.
