Job summary

UC Davis Health's University Birthing Suites is a 24-bed unit within the Main Hospital obstetric service, offering antepartum, labor and delivery, and newborn care with family-centered bonding.

The clinical nurse identifies and implements nursing interventions, providing total, patient-centered care, and participates in education and leadership activities. This on-site role trains in Labor and Delivery with a 90% time allotment, focusing on evidence-based practice and professional development.

Qualifications

• Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
• AHA/BLS or UC Davis Health CPR.
• AAP/AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Completion of Fetal Monitoring Course.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Two years recent acute care RN experience or one year ICU/ED RN experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to use medical terminology appropriately.
• Knowledge of current trends in nursing.
• Commitment to excellence in patient care.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Accountability and professionalism.
• Adapts to change professionally.
• Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation.
• Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care considering development and physiological characteristics.

Responsibilities

• Provide total, comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care.
• Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care.
• Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Train and delegate duties; adhere to policies and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate leadership and accountability for practices.
