Role Description

This full-time, on-site Labor and Delivery Nurse role is based in Vacaville, CA. The nurse will provide comprehensive care to birthing patients and newborns, including assessment, monitoring, and support throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum periods. Responsibilities include administering medications and treatments, assisting with vaginal and cesarean births, responding to obstetric emergencies, and collaborating closely with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and other interdisciplinary team members. The role involves educating patients and families on birth plans, pain management options, breastfeeding, and postpartum care, while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to safety and infection control standards. The nurse will also participate in unit quality improvement initiatives and follow hospital policies and evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Labor and Delivery Nursing and Labor and Delivery skills, with experience caring for birthing patients and newborns.
• Candidates should possess solid Nursing and Medicine knowledge, including maternal-fetal health, obstetric procedures, and emergency response.
• Candidates should possess excellent Critical Thinking skills for rapid assessment, prioritization, and decision-making in high-acuity situations.
• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in California required; BSN preferred.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS and fetal monitoring certification preferred.
• Previous hospital-based labor and delivery or obstetric nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed, and to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication, patient advocacy, and cultural competence in supporting diverse patients and families.
