Job summary

Dignity Health - Methodist Hospital in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Family Birth Center. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate perinatal patient care from admission to discharge, using clinical and technical skills while leading the care team in a safe environment.

The role requires ADN, CA RN license, BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN fetal monitoring qualifications, with a sign-on bonus of $15,000.

Qualifications

• ADN required and active CA RN license.
• Minimum 1 year labor/delivery RN in an acute care setting.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• ACLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• NRP certification within 3 months of hire.
• AWHONN fetal monitoring course required; intermediate course within 6 months.
• Ongoing AWHONN fetal monitoring or NCC certification every two years.

Responsibilities

• Assessment: complete total body and system assessments per unit standards.
• Care of Patient: plan, implement, evaluate and educate.
• Clinical/Technical Skills: apply unit-specific protocols and interventions.
• Documentation: accurate, timely documentation in the electronic system.
• Leadership: accept accountability and support facility leadership.
• Precepting/Mentoring: orient new staff and mentor students.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Registered Nurse (RN) in the Family Birth Center, you will help individuals and families receive holistic, effective, and appropriate care so they can experience safe and confidential care from admission to discharge.

Every day you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, focusing on the needs of perinatal patients and their families. You will be expected to utilize your clinical and technical skills, document accurately, collaborate with the healthcare team, and provide leadership in patient care while maintaining a safe environment and upholding patient safety standards.

• Assessment: Performs total body and system assessment each shift/visit according to unit standards.

• Care of Patient: Including planning, implementing, evaluating and educating.

• Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, protocols, standards and interventions specific to assigned unit.

• Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.

• Leadership: Accepts responsibility and accountability for own decisions and behaviors. Recognizes, accepts and cooperates with direction from facility leadership.

• Precepting/Mentoring: Participates in orientation of new staff, ancillary personnel and mentors students in a constructive and positive manner. Serves as resource to staff from other nursing departments.

We are offering a $15,000 sign-on bonus to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

Required

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN)

• One (1) year of labor and delivery experience as an RN required in an acute care setting

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 3 months of hire - American Heart Association

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 3 months of hire - American Heart Association

• Basic AWHONN (https://www.awhonn.org/fhm/fetal-heart-monitoring/find-an-fhm-course/) fetal monitoring certification acceptable at hire, but must complete the Intermediate AWHONN (https://www.awhonn.org/fhm/fetal-heart-monitoring/find-an-fhm-course/) course within 6 months of hire

• AWHONN (https://www.awhonn.org/fhm/fetal-heart-monitoring/find-an-fhm-course/) Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring course every two years thereafter, or obtain NCC Fetal Monitoring Certification and maintain as specified

Preferred

• One (1) year Labor and delivery C/Section/PACU, OBED, Postpartum/Newborn Nursery Unit experience
