Job summary

Johnson Controls in Waynesboro, PA is seeking a Test Lab Engineer to support the Test Lab Manager in daily operations. This role focuses on testing components used in heavy commercial and industrial refrigeration systems, with a primary emphasis on screw compressor functionality and performance.

The position entails collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams, designing test fixtures with Autodesk CAD, creating P&IDs, sizing components, and developing lab procedures while maintaining

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with refrigeration systems or components is preferred.
• Experience translating concepts into physical test hardware is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support Lab Technicians on engineering-led test projects.
• Review test requests with Lab leadership and determine modifications or new test systems.
• Design and develop test fixtures for lab testing.
• Create P&IDs and design layouts for test rigs using Autodesk CAD tools.
• Size valves, piping, and heat exchangers for test applications.
• Develop procedures and best practices for lab operations.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and support corrective action planning.
• Support instrumentation calibration and maintenance activities.
• Analyze test data and assist with root cause analysis.
