Job description

Work Schedule: M-F 10p-6:30a, with weekend/holiday rotation. This position offers a 10K sign on bonus.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs high, moderate, or waived laboratory testing according to laboratory protocols, exercising independent judgment.
• Utilizes advanced clinical laboratory instrumentation and equipment, following departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions, records troubleshooting activities, and ensures accurate operation.
• Confirms, verifies, and reports test results independently, monitoring for reasonableness and critical values.
• Correlates and interprets data generated from testing to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
• Conducts quality control, performance improvement, and continuous system improvement activities.
• Provides clinical orientation and training for new employees and students.
• Prepares and collects specimens (blood, urine, feces, or other body fluids) for analysis.
• Performs instrument and assay validations and signs off on technical competencies.
• Participates in continuing education and competency assessments for moderate and high complexity testing.

Qualifications

• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for high complexity testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related science field from an accredited institution, or meet CLIA grandfathered medical technologist regulations.
• Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, regulatory correspondence, and related documents.
• Proficiency in mathematical concepts including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry; ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Excellent reasoning skills: problem definition, data collection, fact establishment, and conclusion drawing.
• Computer skills: Word processing, spreadsheets, email, and laboratory information systems.
• Certification by a recognized certifying agency for clinical laboratory professionals preferred (ASCP, ASMT, NCA, etc.); other specialized certifications may be required.
